Breakfast on the Beach 2009 – a report.

The weather was fine, everything was organised, the Rotarians turned up in force with offsiders coerced to varying degrees and the crowd of around three to four thousand came and were fed in an efficient and jovial manner. 40 volunteers were needed; 65 turned up.

A big thank you to the members of our club, Illawarra Sunrise Rotary Club, young RYLArians, UOW Rotaract Club and others that helped out. The old experienced half soon showed the first timers how to do it.

The efficiency on some of the bar-bqs was something to be marvelled at. Jeff Hazell cooked with the best of them. Peter Charker’s son thought he came to cook but was railroaded into rubbish collection all morning with his two mates. Debbie Petreski sent her 13 year old son while she flew to Melbourne. I’m pleased to report that all eggs stayed on the bar-bqs this year.

Barry manned the exit gate and kept the bastards honest. A new club marque was erected and used for cool drinks and R and R.

All in attendance seemed to enjoy the morning and many stayed for the social wind down and evaluation at the completion of the event.

A job well done by all in attendance. Congratulations.
